Alliance Jiu-Jitsu is proud to have some of the most accomplished BJJ competitors in its ranks. With many members, both male and female, competing in the world’s most challenging BJJ championships. Below is some information on 12 of Alliances most well-known and extremely successful BJJ practitioners.

MARCELINHO

ALLIANCE BJJ

Marcelo "Marcelinho" Garcia is one of the world’s best known Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu competitors and has won five world championship titles in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu as a black belt. He has also won many submission grappling titles including the prestigious ADCC Submission Wrestling World Championship. Garcia has won his weight division four times at ADCC and was awarded the most technical fighter twice. He also won the best fight award in 2005.

TERERE

ALLIANCE BJJ

Fernando "Terere" Augusto is a former BJJ competitor, MMA fighter and submission grappler who is two-time World Champion in BJJ black belt division and has won a number of other competitions including Pan-American Championship, South-American Championship, Copa do Mundo and Brazilian National Championship. Terere is known for being one of the most influential and entertaining competitors of all time.

COBRINHA

ALLIANCE BJJ

Rubens "Cobrinha" Charles Maciel is another of the world’s finest BJJ competitors and is four-time world champion, four-time world No-gi champion, two-time ADCC Champion, three-time Pan American champion and European champion in 2013 all as a black belt.

TARSIS

ALLIANCE BJJ

Tarsis Humphreys is a Jiu-jitsu black belt and has won numerous BJJ competitions including being the 2010 Medium Heavyweight Jiu-Jitsu World Champion and the champion of the inaugural World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Cup. From 1998 - 2009 Tarsis won a medal in whichever BJJ competition he entered.

LUCAS

ALLIANCE BJJ

Lucas Lepri is a Brazilian grappler and is one of only a few to have won all 4 "majors" at black belt level. The World Jiu-Jitsu Championship, Pan American Championships, the European Championships and the Brazilian National Jiu-Jitsu Championship. He has also won the No-gi World Jiu-Jitsu Championship and the No-gi Pan American Championships multiple times in the lightweight division.

BERNADO

ALLIANCE BJJ

Bernardo Faria has won many BJJ titles including being five-time World Jiu-Jitsu champion. He has won the European Open, Pan American Championships and Brazilian Championship. In 2013 and 2015 Bernardo was also ranked first in the IBJJF World Ranking of all divisions.

LEO

ALLIANCE BJJ

Leo Nogueira is another black belt BJJ competitor who has an excellent competitive record. He has won the World Champion twice as a black belt as well as previously winning Pan American Championships, Brazilian National Championships, Rio Open Championships and the European Championships.

SOLUÇO

ALLIANCE BJJ

Fernando Di Piero “SOLUÇO” is another important figure in the Alliance world team. He has won the Brazilian National Champion in 2003 as a brown belt and is a 2x European Open Silver Medalist, 2x Brazilian National Silver Medalist, Pan American Silver Medalist, 2x World Bronze Medalist and Brazilian National Silver Medalist.

TAYANE

ALLIANCE BJJ

Tayane Porfirio is a BJJ black belt and one of the main representatives of the Alliance Academy’s female team. In 2015 Tayane won the IBJJF Grand Slam (World, Pan-American, European Open and Brazilian Nationals) in both her weight and the absolute division as a purple belt. She has won many BJJ competitions including the IBJJF World Champions, the UAEJJF World ProChampions, the Pan American Champions as well as the European Open, Brazilian National and the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam.

SERGINHO

ALLIANCE BJJ

Sergio "SERGINHO" Moraes - is a four-time Brazilian Jiu-jitsu champion, his most famous fight being when he defeated Kron Gracie in 2008. He is also a professional MMA fighter and UFC competitor.

BRUNO

ALLIANCE BJJ

Bruno Malfacine is a world class BJJ competitor who started his BJJ journey at age 11 and has gone on to win nine world titles.

GABI

ALLIANCE BJJ

Gabrielle "Gabi" Lemos Garcia is a well known BJJ practitioner, grappling world champion, and member of the IBJJF Hall of fame. Garcia trains in São Paulo with Fabio Gurgel, at the Alliance team, where she has achieved two Abu Dhabi Combat Club championships and nine world Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu championships. Garcia is also an experienced MMA fighter.
